New settings for MHMS Shared Mode devices, stream without in-headset user prompt and more

AUTHOR: The ManageXR Team

At ManageXR, we're gearing up for a summer of updates that will include many new features and capabilities for your XR deployments. Last week we released new settings for Meta devices (MHMS), the ability to remotely stream without an in-headset user prompt, a new configuration list view and more!

Turn off Session Passcodes (MHMS)

Devices enrolled through Meta Horizon managed services and using Shared Mode use Meta's "sessions" to reset devices between users. Previously, users were required to set a passcode at the beginning of a session. To many deployment leaders focused on getting users into content as quickly as possible, setting and using session passcodes was an undesirable point of friction. Now, you can turn OFF session passcodes.

Important! The behavior of resuming an inactive session when passcodes are OFF varies by firmware version:

  • v78 and above: After the session inactivity timeout, a device shows a Continue or End session screen. The maximum and default value for the inactivity timeout is 60 minutes (requirement set by Meta).

  • v77: After 15 minutes, the session automatically ends.

Minimum firmware version: v77

Auto-Set Stationary Boundary (MHMS)

In the Shared Mode Session Intro on Meta devices (MHMS), users previously needed to set a boundary. Now, you can allow users to skip that step and get into their session more quickly by turning OFF the "Set up boundary" Session Intro step. When OFF, a stationary boundary will be set automatically.

Minimum firmware version: v78

Set System Language (MHMS)

You can now set the system language for your Meta devices enrolled via MHMS. Choose from 25 languages available on the Meta operating system. Find this new setting under Configuration > Device Settings > Meta only.

Minimum firmware version: v77

Configuration Table View & Pins

Complex deployments on ManageXR may use hundreds of configurations. Now, you can conveniently view your configurations in a table format, sort by different columns like number of devices or device experience, and pin your most-used configurations to the top for easy access.

Skip Streaming In-Headset Prompt

When remote streaming on ManageXR, most devices require users to accept an in-headset permission prompt before an admin can remotely view their screen. This can pose challenges in troubleshooting situations and slow down live demos. With this update, you can opt to skip the streaming permission prompt. To skip the prompt, you must grant permanent permission to your devices in advance. Check out our documentation linked below for more details.
